Bridge Pavilion

Bridge Pavilion

The Eger stream is a defining element of the city's image, however, the opportunity to spend time in close proximity to the water is limited. Busy squares (e.g. Dobó Square) need more shady, green meeting places. Our initial concept was also based on this observation. However, considering the stream's flooding habits, we decided to expand an existing bridge instead of a new, easily drifting small structure.

We chose the Fazola Henrik Street pedestrian bridge as the site. Our pavilion, which complements the bridge, can serve as a shelter for many people in the heat in the midst of city life and provides a new function to a place that is otherwise not used for spending time. The furniture system designed in an organic order, the shading initially made of fabric netting, later of climbing plants, encourages visitors to stay, welcomes them in the name of the stream. The space is divided into three parts in both directions by intermediate supports and steel wire reinforcements stretched crosswise in the beam and pillar fields. These fields can also be used for shading. The trough formed on top of the retaining wall along the Esperantó promenade in the immediate vicinity of the bridge, and the planter oxes following the design of the furniture system provide excellent breeding round. Since it only rests on the bridge but is not attached to it, the use of the avilion is flexible, and the bridge remains intact after its eventual dismantling.
